driven by Theodore M McKibben 25 of Camdenton which was stopped facing north in the southbound lane McKibben was getting mail out of his mailbox the patrol said McKibben and a passenger in his car John E Mahoney 24 of Montreal received minor iijuries in the accident but neither received immediate treatment nor said in a letter to Brunner Brunner said the states plans are dependent upon the outcome of current negotiations with the MKT The Governor has directed us to carefully watch taxpayer dollars and only if we believe we are getting a fair deal are we to proceed with trail development Brunner said The Governor has also directed Brunners department to give high priority to security along the areas developed as a pilot project For those portions of the corridor not in the pilot program I expect the department to do whatever is necessary to make them available for use by the original landowners Ashcroft said Public access to the undeveloped portions of the corridor will be restricted and the department will support appropriate legislation to preserve further safeguards for the adjacent landowners including fencing drainage control and levee maintenance We will make every poesible effort to minimize the amount of tax dollars necessary to implement the pilot project I anticipate that we will be considering a system of voluntary contributions to defray the costs of the development of the trail and operation Brunner said This type of financing has been successful in other areas of the country Brunner also noted that conversion of the corridor into a bicycle Eldon
